Print Services
There are several options when it comes to binding booklets, programs, cookbooks, portfolios and other printed pieces.
- Perfect Binding – Perfect binding is a process in which single sheets of paper are printed on both sides, collated in page number order one on top of the other, and gathered into a stack. The heavy-duty paperback covers are printed separately and attached at the spine with a strong, flexible glue, creating a professional looking square spine. The other three sides of the book are then trimmed to the desired finished size to give them that clean “perfect” edge.
- Saddle Stitching – A saddle stitched booklet consists of single sheets of paper, printed on both sides, collated in page number order, folded in half, then stapled through the fold.
- Spiral or Coil Binding – A spiral/coil bound book uses a continuous coil loop shaped like a long spring that passes through a row of punched holes at the edge of the printed piece. Spiral bound books are easier to handle as they will lie flat, the pages turn easily and they can fold or wrap back around themselves.
- Wire Binding – Wire binding is a method in which pre-formed pairs of small loops of wire run along a C-shaped spine that looks like a comb. These wire loops are inserted through each of the square holes that have been drilled through the edge of the printed book’s cover and pages which allow the pages of the book to line up precisely. A wire closer then squeezes the spine until it is round securing the cover and pages.
Die cutting refers to a process in which a machine is used to mass-produce cut-out shapes. You can create the same shape with the exact same dimensions, over and over, similar to a cookie cutter. It saves time and makes cut-out shapes look professional and consistent every time.
Embossing and debossing are the processes of creating raised or indented relief images and designs in paper and other materials. An embossed pattern is raised against the background, while a debossed pattern is sunken into the surface of the material but might protrude somewhat on the reverse side, depending on the thickness of the paper stock. These techniques are inexpensive yet effective ways to add unique style to your business cards and other printed projects.
Foil stamping is a method of relief printing in which foil is transferred to a surface using heat and pressure. This technique makes logos and other elements “pop” on business cards, letterhead, invitations and stationery, and makes an elegant, upscale visual impact.
Our bindery/finishing department provides many different options for folding. Our high-speed folding machines can fold at speeds exceeding 5,000 sheets per hour. Many different folding formats are available, and for more unique folding jobs, we also offer several hand-folding options. We can provide unlimited quantities of folded materials for your special printed projects.
We have powerful hydraulic paper drilling machines that feature many different sizes of paper drills and enable us to position the hole just about anywhere on the sheet of paper. Consider having your intercompany forms three-hole drilled so employees can file them right into a three-ring binder.
Lamination prolongs the life of your printed projects by increasing durability, preserving colors, enabling your projects to withstand moisture and protecting them from fingerprints, abrasions, and smudges. Laminating also provides a glossy finish that gives your projects a professional look that you can be proud of.
Many carbonless forms and invoices require sequential numbering. Numbering is an inexpensive and effective way to maintain accurate records and improve organization.
We can number in ascending or descending order on a variety of papers and sheet sizes.
We have very sophisticated, computerized, digital paper cutters that are extremely fast and accurate. Our commercial paper cutters feature high-pressure hydraulic clamps to prevent paper shifting and razor-sharp carbon steel blades to guarantee the most precise cuts.
Perforating a printed form can create an easy-to-remove response card, coupon, or customer feedback form. Our wide variety of perforating blades gives you flexibility when designing pieces that need to separate effortlessly. We can also design pieces that can stand up to the rigors of post office mailing equipment without pulling apart.
Scoring is a way of preparing a sheet of paper so that it folds cleanly. A crease line is pressed or embossed into the paper at the folding point. This allows for the paper to fold easily without cracking, shifting or otherwise folding inappropriately. The need for scoring a print job depends on a few factors, including the type of printed piece and the paper stock. Our friendly customer service representatives can tell you whether your project will need to be scored.
Stitching and stapling are the same process. The only difference is that the phrase stapling is generally used when you’re trying to bind together no more than 40 pages and is done with lightweight desktop equipment. Stitching generally requires an industrial-sized, floor-mounted piece of equipment. We have a variety of stapling and stitching machines that can handle any type of book or printed project you need to assemble.
Our professionally trained graphic designers are computer artists who know how to use their talents to improve the look of your printed projects. Artistic use of color, typography, photos and illustration can dramatically improve the effectiveness of your project. Creative design can produce a favorable impression that makes your company and its products stand out in the crowd. Our award-winning designers are skilled at creating attention-getting brochures, booklets, newsletters, signs and designs for decorating apparel. They also specialize in the layout of business forms and all types of workplace documents.
We make the ordering process easy with our online ordering portal. Reorder the products that your company uses most often with the click of a button and we’ll deliver straight to your door. No phone call or email needed.
In the printing business, it’s much more cost effective to print in large quantities. Why not print in large quantities and let us store it for you in our warehouse and keep track of your inventory? We’ll hold your product on our shelves, keeping it out of your way, and deliver as much (or as little) as you need.
Done properly, direct mail marketing can deepen customer loyalty and increase top-of-mind awareness for a company and its brand. When you’re ready to launch a direct mail campaign, we can help. We’re experts at creating successful direct mail materials that “wow” customers and prospects alike.
